UN Secretary-General António Guterres said in his New Year message that “the top ten hottest years on record have happened in the last ten years, including 2024,” and urged countries to slash their emissions, stressing that humanity has “no time to lose.”

We have seen the effects of climate change in full swing in the few weeks of 2025 – the earth’s temperature hitting a new milestone and rising to more than 1.5C above pre-industrial levels, the wildfires ravaging across Los Angeles, a heatwave intensifying across Australia’s southeast.

To effectively confront the climate emergency, collective efforts are essential. Today’s youth have a pivotal role in shaping innovative business solutions and fostering positive change. By engaging young people in climate action, we can harness their creativity and energy to push meaningful progress toward sustainability and resilience.

Are you aspiring to drive change in our society and accelerate businesses’ commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? If you believe that businesses can do good for the community and the environment while doing well financially, the CDL-GCNS Young SDG Leaders Awards is for you!

Jointly organised by City Developments Limited (CDL) and UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), this annual case competition offers young people a platform to champion sustainable development and SDG integration into business for positive change.
